Usually around this time someone will ask if Player X will be rated defensively at position Y? Players with minimal appearances at a certain position are looked at on a case by case basis but the general guidelines for a player to be rated are as follows:
1. Makes at least one (1) start at the position.
2. Plays at the position for two (2) or more games.
3. Plays at the position for three (3) or more innings.
Each season there are usually at least a couple of exceptions such as the case with 2011 Jorge Posada who did not receive a catcher rating despite playing 6 defensive innings.
