I'm not a complainer, very much a glass totally full and flowing over kind of guy.I love DMB, heck I even think version 9 is fantastic, love playing it, have awesome leagues I'm in, and if they never changed or tweaked another thing on DMB other than making a new season disk every year I'd be totally happy with it. So version 10 is just a feather in the cap, if it comes that's great, if it doesn't - no big deal to me, I just love the game!!!! And I'll keep paying every year for the disk gladly, and even feel like it's underpriced for as much as we all get out of it.I am a bit technologically fearful I guess. Oh - I can tinker with a computer and all that sort of thing, but this e site for having to get our future disks or game versions, codes to have to use to load, etc. seems pretty silly to me. Listen - all I want to do is pay my $30 or $50 or whatever to get my new version or pay for my game disks and either get a hard disk I can load or an email file I can save to hard disk and load anytime or on any new computer I happen to get. So, once we start relying on a e site to house all that or where we have to go anytime we want to load something and then need special codes and all that seems crazy to me. I figure if I buy it, it should be in my control - like others have mentioned I think it's ridiculous that if this e store went down or out of business that suddenly everything I'd paid for is gone should I need to go after it again. So for me, I'll just stick with version 9 rather than what appears to me to be more of a "lease" type situation on version 10.

______________________________________Joe - I believe you when you say the e-License registration process is simple and easy. I also strongly suspect that the resident service will not drain much system resources.
If DMB were simply for fun, then I'd have no problem with the process. My baseball replays, however, are pretty serious and passionate stuff to me. I have 40 year old score sheets and notebooks from the dice and card days. When I switched to the PC games 20 years ago, I replaced the notebooks with saved replay data. I have over 100 season replays, played on different PC games, coaching different teams.
The thought of not being able to access these life long data is pretty daunting. I'm not expecting everyone to understand that concern. I don't even expect people to agree with it. I hope some at least respect it.
I wish DMB would consider offering a conversion utility (even as a purchased standalone program) that allows one to convert version 10 data back to version 9 format. Conversion utilities aren't perfect, but if it converts most of the data that could be good enough and satisfy my worry. I'd then save my data in both the new and old formats.
I'm sure some are reading this now and believe I'm on an anti-DMB, anti-Dayne crusade. Quite the contrary. I am looking forward to version 10 and beyond as much as anyone. I'm pretty discouraged right now knowing that new versions will be introduced and won't meet my needs. I own every season but a few and I plan to purchase them as soon as the new store is online and I'm assured the e-License registration process won't involve the season disks. I'll continue to play version 9 and keep tabs on new developments here. Maybe someone will come up with an idea and a way to make this new process work for everyone.

I believe I have read that the internet connection is only needed when installing the game. It may also be needed when installing season discs bought from the E-license store. Here is what I plan to do and having a working DMB going forward is vital to me;I will keep the V 9 disc and keep V 9 installed and not convert any past discs to V10.I will get V 10 and play each year going forward there. I save the data needed in an access database after each year. Should anything ever happen, I could go back to V 9 and only the current season would be at risk.My feeling is that if both firms went out of business, there would be some help from someone to install already owned versions of DMB. I am looking forward to V10. I am happy DMB is still in business, still making discs and still improving the product and hope that will continue for a long time.
