Minor Leaguer (AAA) Posts: 255 (10/08/09 08:46 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None I am not a Minnesota Twins' fan and definitely not a Yankee fan but there should be an overide to the rule that gives the 1st place team the power to force the winner of a one game playoff to scramble in the early hours of the morning to be ready to play the next day. The Yankees should be proud they defeated a team that was riding on fumes. Wouldn't it be great if Bud Selig had any say in the matter and could use some common sense? Why not have the two rested teams, Red Sox and Angels play on Wednesday and give the Twins some time to catch their breaths? Bud Selig and common sense. What am I thinking?

But, that being said, I still have to disagree with your premise. The Yankees earned the right to their choice of schedule just like the Twins earned the right to host their one-game playoff. It's certainly not the Yankees' fault that the playoff game couldn't be played on Monday. Under the circumstances if Bud were to step in to override the rules in place it would have been more appropriate for him to award the playoff game to Detroit so it could be played Monday. Of course if he had done that the Twins would have screamed bloody murder -- they squawked plenty loud last year when they lost a coin flip. All things considered I'd bet the Twins are OK with the way things have worked out.

Once again, it's an advantage that the Yankees earned. And if it's a more than usually large advantage because the divisional playoff game was played on Tuesday instead of Monday, that's not the Yankees' fault . . . it's the Twins' (at least to the extent that it's anybody's "fault").
