If you are using DMB9 and you are experiencing a problem on a
computer with Windows Vista or Windows 7, the first thing you need to do is
confirm that you have the most recent update installed. To check the
version of DMB9 that you currently have installed, click
Help and then About Diamond Mind
Baseball. The most recent update is version 9c
and this update is required for Diamond Mind Baseball to function
correctly with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
If you already have version 9c installed (or once you have installed it) you may still run into an "Unable to build database indexes" message when attempting to install a league database or when restoring a database backup. The DMB actions that can result in this error are: the Transfer > Install league database command, the Transfer > Create league database command and the File > Restore command.
In most cases, the cause of this problem has been a failure to complete the instructions for installing DMB9 on a system running Windows Vista/Windows 7. These instructions are located on the version 9 patches webpage in the Windows Vista Compatibility notes and are also included with the installation CD for any purchase of DMB9 made after the release of the version 9c patch (July 2007).
To avoid this problem you should perform the following steps after installing DMB version 9c or the version 9c patch on a Windows Vista/Windows 7 system:
1. Open Windows Explorer or the Computer folder and navigate to the folder where you have Diamond Mind Baseball 9 installed on your computer. Typically this will be the folder location C:\dmb9, which is the default destination folder used by the DMB9 installtion program.

2. From within the dmb9 folder, right-click on the baseball application file (the one with the green DMB logo).

3. Select Properties from the context menu.

4. Click on the Compatibility tab at the top of the Properties window. In the Privilege Level section, check the box next to Run this program as an administrator.

5. Click on the OK button to save the change and close the properties window.
Once this has been done, Diamond Mind will run with administrator privileges every time you start it up. It is normal to see a User Account Control (UAC) prompt similar to the follwoing each time you start DMB9.

If you receive this prompt (or one similar), verify that the program asking for permission to run is named baseball.exe, and then click Allow to allow DMB to run.
