If you have installed Diamond Mind Baseball 9c on a system running Windows Vista or Windows 7 and you have followed the Windows Vista/7 compatibility
instructions, which can be found on the version 9 patches page, the game should be functioning correctly. However, depending on
whether you have the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Windows, you may still run into problems installing season disks using DMB's built-in Install season disk feature.
Unfortunately, the Install season disk function (File menu) is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows and attempting to use it will result in an error message. Most commonly, "Unable to decompress sd2008.exe" or something very similar depending on which season you are attempting to install. (If you are getting an "Unable to build database indexes" error see this topic.)
To check which version of Windows Vista/7 you have, click the Windows Start button, right-click on Computer and then select Properties from the context menu that appears.
The System type will be either 32-bit or 64-bit.
This issue will be resolved in the next update to Diamond Mind, but in the meantime it is necessary to use a work-around to install a season disk on systems with the 64-bit version of Windows. The instructions for loading a season disk in version 9 format can be found here. The instructions for installing a season disk in version 8 format are a little different and can be found here.
