I hope so. I can't wait to see if Dayne ever found out who ate all his strawberry ice cream.

I wasn't here when the sale took place but if you all have been acting like this from day 1 (even a small group) then again you all made this much easier on him to decide to cancel work on the PC Game. Elan says he is posting the whole thing shortly so we will see what else was in there.
Due respect, jfish, but that's just rubbish. And pretty infuriating rubbish at that. Dayne could have been a really popular guy on this forum if he would have only shown up and "mingled" with the hoi polloi. It was his decision not to, and, for all the world, it appears it was because he didn't care about this forum or the stand-alone format. And he's also ducking responsibility for this by, once again, bringing Tom Tippett into it and suggesting that he was only going along with Tom Tippett's advice in deciding never to communicate with us. You are really determined to be a bitter-ender for Dayne's distortions, jfish.

He fabricated the whole thing and from the start the community here was fully supportive? I've been reading these forums since Aug or Sep of '07 and I've seen this type of behavior an awful lot to believe that. I can believe that perhaps you were supportive, I'd buy that but you have to look at the whole picture. I'm still sorry everyone is so upset and the game wont being getting much attention but I think we brought it on ourselves.
Well, that's your opinion. I happen to believe you're wrong and am upset that people on this forum are getting the blame for a decision that was, in my opinion, motivated by something else altogether. Look, I don't want to get in a nasty back and forth, but when you start saying things like, "You all got what you deserved," it's going to come off as inflammatory. I waited patiently and held my tongue and tried to make supportive posts about the game for most of two years. I, and many others, feel like we got slapped in the face. Your "you had it coming" remarks are salt in the wound.

That was a small number of a small number of DMB customers. There was plenty of other game-related stuff being posted on this forum, though. Even by some of the people who were dogging Dayne. Dayne could have shut most of the criticism up my being a presence on this forum, by communicating about the status of the game, the way he was on the Simnasium forum. Ultimately, he just booted his two biggest critics off the forum.

Tell me how many companies owner gets online for chats or even makes a single post explaining what is happening? ... ... I think some of the community's expectations were far to high and I'm not sure there was anything Dayne could do to make you all happy. In a perfect, magical world I'm sure he could have but now here on Earth. Fact is you guys want the PC game to be the focus of the company, you want a V 10 regardless of the situation with the company, you want your CPS seasons regardless of who works on them or how much it costs, etc and unfortunately for you all that isn't how things work.
Jfish, Several weeks ago, when Imagine Sports announced its new subscription and pricing plan, there were many howls of displeasure on the IS forum. Some even accused Dayne of going all corporate on them. While no one (I think) called him the devil, there were some pointed comments about IS trying to squeeze money out of people. The response was not to shut down the forum and to adopt a policy of never again improving the online product because of the ungrateful curs who criticized Dayne, but to actually adjust the pricing plan in the customer's favor. That quieted the critics almost completely. No need to ban anyone. No decision to shut down operations out of pique. Now, if you believe the squeaky wheel never gets the grease, what happened there? The difference in treatment of the stand-alone game customer and the folks who play the online game is because the online game is much more lucrative to IS. Please don't buy the story that the stand-alone game is getting neglected because a few mean people "hurted" Dayne's feelings. I know why we didn't get everything (or anything) we wanted. Just don't insult our intelligence with your explanation of the reasons.

My share of the blame comes from my inability to buy enough DMB products. Other than that, you're nuts.

Scooter50 wrote: Ok, here is the straight dope, the real deal and god's honest truth: The worst thing that ever happened to DMB was not Tom's sale to Dayne, but that dark rainy day when a certain black belt purchased the game. That's when everything changed for the worse. That's when what became a community dedicated to baseball research and comraderie turned into a nasty place. He turned these boards into a joke. He brought conflict to the community. And that was BEFORE the sale. Now say what you want about Dayne, (but please consider how different it would be under Tom?) But looking at 2DBB's crashing the chat last night it is clear that this one person has taken it upon himself to cause as much trouble as he can. Dayne - on Memorial Day - is answering questions in a chat and that knucklehead barges in and tries to take over the show. Why? Because it's all about...HIM. Over the years he pissed off Tom, Luke, Jack, Pat, Jim, and everyone who has actually tried to help the game. His takeover of this board - and now the Delphi board - probably turned off hundreds of potential customers. Yeah, he's been gone a while, but he poisoned this place in a way that continues to this day. That 1924 disk he helped create was wonderful, but it came with a heavy price. The person who controls the Delphi board - a good man - should shut him down. That board which years ago brought me to this game has become 99.9% negativity and vitriol. No one in their right mind would ever buy this game after visiting either of these boards. And that is the tragedy here.
I'm on board with Scooter here.
