Hey, Gang!
We hope youre continuing to enjoy Simnasiums Total Baseball as much as were enjoying providing it to you. Today, we have some exciting news to share. Earlier this week, Simnasium acquired Diamond Mind, the company that developed and markets the Diamond Mind software that powers STB. Diamond Mind is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Simnasium and will continue to produce, support and market the Windows PC version of the game. All Diamond Mind personnel will continue on with Simnasium.
Why did we do this?
Over the past year that weve been working with Tom Tippett and the folks at Diamond Mind, it became apparent how many ideas we shared about where we could take the game, and the best way to do that would be through a closer relationship. Specifically:
Growth. The growth of the customer base here has been amazing to date, exceeding even our optimistic projects for where wed be at this point. Still, we want to bring many more into the community. A large increase in our customer base will be great for both the STB competitive environment as well as our ability to invest in continued improvements to the game. To realize this kind of growth, Simnasium is pursuing several marketing ventures with big name partners. Our ability to negotiate attractive marketing partnerships is greatly enhanced by our ownership and control of STBs underlying Diamond Mind simulation engine.
Game Improvements. As weve worked with the Diamond Mind team and the software itself, weve come to believe that theres a lot more we can do with this game than we originally envisioned. By merging the two companies, we are able to obtain and justify the investments needed to make those improvements, as well as improve our ability to engineer specific changes needed to optimize feature additions, enhancements and planned product variations of STB and Diamond Mind.
Synergy. By combining the Simnasium teams experience and skills in software development and internet technology with Diamond Minds expertise and knowledge of baseball research and simulation, we can do things neither could do alone and do so more efficiently than a license allows. In particular, this frees up Tom Tippetts time from doing the business side of things at Diamond Mind so he can focus on game improvements and feature enhancements. We think youll love whats already in the oven and the other things were cooking up in the kitchen!
As far as things go here and at Diamond Mind, you wont see much change. All of the Diamond Mind and Simnasium personnel will be continue doing the work they do now (though youll see more people around here and baseball articles from Tom and his team), and well continue to provide the same customer service and game quality that weve tried to establish as a standard. What changes you will see in the future are in game play improvements and new features, and were excited about what well be able to bring you as a united team.
Again, thanks to all of you for your support, ideas, and feedback. We plan to continue to fulfill our promise to listen to you and to work diligently to provide superior products in the field of sports simulation for all of us to enjoy.
As always, enjoy and
Play ball!
