Maybe this time things really will be different.

Like I said .... "maybe". Despite all the feel-good posts thanking Dayne after his announcement, the bottom line at this moment is that the new version is 13 months late, there is no stated release date, and Pat is no longer with the company. Those don't exactly strike me as positives. I guess some people have a degree of optimism because Dayne is at least talking about getting the stand-alone game moving in a good direction again. Whether that comes to pass or not, who knows? I'm sceptical, but I'd like to be proven wrong. Many of us said we'd like to get some kind of communication happening from the company, and we do seem to be getting that. So maybe the appocalypse is upon us and DMB will start to become a living, breathing product again. We'll see.

Anyway, my only point posting in this thread is that the E-License thing isn't a deal-breaker to me personally. Most of the software on my machine, including Windows, uses some form of copy protection or an activation scheme. I'm sure we can all appreciate that some people out there would think nothing of copying their DMB disk and passing it out to friends, or that some league might buy a single disk and distribute copies to all its members. It's unfortunate that things are that way, but it's inevitable that many, if not most, software products coming out nowadays try to discourage that stuff with some form of copy protection or activation. My experience with E-License is that it's no worse than any other scheme and better than some I've heard of.
