Dawson dealt with severe knee pains from the very start of his career, and the way he went on about it you'd think that overcoming injuries and pain was somehow a major factor in his vote. Where he came up with that I have no idea

Well if 'overcoming injuries' is not a worthy consideration, then so too should longevity not be a worthy consideration. Since both are health related, and not a reflection to the skill level of a player. Longevity is really the only thing i see in Blyleven's favour. He accumulated a lot of stats, over a very solid career. ... But was he feared? Did you look into the paper the morning of a game and see your favourite team facing Bert Blylevan and think "we don't have a chance tonight". My guess is a definite no (though i'm only old enough to remember the 80's so correct me if i'm wrong)

Andre Dawson, like Jim Rice last year, were FEARED in their prime - a prime that lasted at least a decade for both players. That's got to account for something --- and apparently it does, because both of them are in! Congratulations Hawk!
