I'm sure that whatever Luke did wouldn't cause this problem, but the cause of both issues may be related. If your "Total security program" has a real-time virus/spyware scanning feature, it could be that it is interfering with DMB's ability to save changes to its configuration file. Try disabling real-time scanning and then run through the steps of making some changes to the on field colours and fonts in DMB, save your changes, exit DMB and start it up again.
