Just when I think I cannot love DMB more...I popped in Don Mattingly's Yankeeography and I had forgotten he played about 18 innings as a lefty third-baseman during an August series in Seattle. I know it is rare being lefty but he was a natural and even turned a double-play during one game.

The best part of it all.....I look at his '86 DMB card and sure enough he is rated AV as a 3b!!!! This game is sick with realism...

Really getting into 1986. I almost forgot how much I hated the '86 Mets.

Oh yes...I remember 1986 as if it were yesterday. To tell you the truth, I didn't know about the "Curse of the Bambino" at that time. So when the Red Sox were playing the Mets in the World Series that year, I picked the Mets to win because I thought they were the better team. Back then I always rooted for the National League team in the World Series. I even rooted for the Cardinals to win in '85 and '87. The Mets were loaded with talent and depth in the late '80s so I wasn't surprised that they won it all in '86.

You should have lots of fun replaying 1986. I'm sure you can't wait to get to 1988 with the Yankees. My only question is are you going to do anything Martin-esque like have Pagliarulo bat right-handed? Or leave Rick Rhoden in the starting lineup as a DH?
