I figured it out. It's been a while since I converted over all my homebrew v8 to v9 seasons.
1) first you need DMB v8 and the season installed on that.
2) save as a "Create League D/B"
3) create empty league in v9.
4) unzip the files from the v8 ZIP file to the empty d/b in v9.
5) open up v9 and add reference to the league - it will ask you if you want to convert v8 files to v9.
6) yes and your done.
PS - I found the Pat Gary version and converted it.
Edit - steps 1 & 2 aren't needed if you already have an old league database as a ZIP file. you can go right to step 3.
