quotes from Baker:

"But your job in the middle is to either score them or drive them in. The name of the game is scoring runs. Sometimes, you get so caught up in on-base percentage that you're clogging up the bases."

"On-base percentage, that's fine and dandy. But a lot of times guys get so much into on-base percentage that they cease to swing. It's becoming a little bit out of control. "

"(Votto) needs to swing more. I'd like to see him more aggressive." votto's minor league numbers? 289/.385/.476

Let's see how badly he messes up the careers of Votto, Bailey and Bruce.

He did great with my Giants because of who the had.. some guy named Bonds, Jeff Kent and a solid nucleus.

His handling of young players really is deplorable, but his whole thing against the walks is just mindboggling. I too liked him as a player, just not as a manager.

You are actually relying on quotes for your opinion. Every manager has to have players to be effective, Lou Piniella had to have alot of additions before he would agree to take over the Cub team that Baker managed. Which he ran into the ground in the playoffs, but at least Zambrano is well rested, right cub fans? You can't argue with his success wherever he goes, so he must be handling the youngsters right somewhere.
