I'll put my question here since this is the current thread. Jim's explanation for the changes was the following:

I understand this. The era that the players are normalized into has changed because of the last three years. However if that is the case why do some players (all pitchers that I can find) have the same stat lines?

I'd like to add that I'm not trying to find a reason to criticize. I'm a big believer in these ratings and I often use them in debates over whose better than whom. However if I'm going to use these ratings as evidence I have to understand where they come from.
