Sposfan1, you said you made the switch after being a SOM lifer and I'm curious as to how you viewed the game the first few times you played.

Keeping in mind that it was quite a while ago <G> I remember the hardest thing about DMB to get used to was the lack of SOM's split cards and the inability to actually see a player's card.

By SOM splits I mean, for those not in the know, that SOM shows the exact percentage of any event happening. For each batter/pitcher you can see the odds of each event before rolling the dice. Not just on the player card, but it would actually show you the exact odds on screen. Also it took a while to be able to trust the DMB engine, since once again in SOM, you had the exact odds of being safe or out when trying to advance an extra base, try for a sac bunt or a stolen base.

It took a while, but now when I try to play my old SOM again, I really don't like the fact that you DO know the eact odds.

I still miss the ability to hold the cards, that is just something that cannot be replaced, but the pitch by pitch engine more than makes up for it.

I don't miss having to upgrade my version every single year, the copy protection system they used to have and the one they upgraded to. I don't miss the fact that the computer game would change some of the outcomes behind the scenes. As for customer support, there is absolutely no comparison. The only company I have found that can compare favorably to DMB is Replay, but that's pretty much it.

Really the one main thing I wish DMB had, and yes, I've been harping on it since I came over, is the ability to maintain a 25 man day to day roster through usage factors and injuries. Strat has had this for over a decade and it allowed to me replay my seasons with injuries on AND actual transactions, as well as older seasons where transactions are not available.
