There were two main reasons why I didn't make it a priority to add the pre-1927 seasons long ago. The first is that it would most likely have been a labor of love, not of profit, since the community of folks that is interested in that era is quite enthusiastic but fairly small, as far as I can tell by analyzing the sales of our pre-WWII past seasons.

The second, and more important reason, is that I believed that doing it right would also require a bunch of work on the game engine itself and the computer manager in particular. I'm not an expert on that era by any means, so I would have had a lot to learn before I felt comfortable claiming that we could create a highly realistic simulation of that period.

Having said that, I've heard from a number of customers who seem to be having a lot of fun using DMB with homebrew seasons from that era, so maybe I was making a mountain out of a molehill. In any case, there are people who know a lot more about that era than I do, and it sounds like I could learn something from you and your colleagues.

If you've read my previous posts, you already know that I won't have time to address this issue until after we hit a few short-term targets, so I'll have to table this discussion for now. But when the time comes, it sounds like we would be well advised to listen to what you've learned.

It's hard for me to comment on this without knowing what you've had to do to stop closers from being used at all, but the first step would be to leave the closer roles empty. If you do that and set the closer tendency to the minimum value, my recent work on the CM shouldn't make things any worse for you. I can't guarantee that, because emulating the dead ball era managing style wasn't my goal and therefore wasn't one of the scenarios we tested, but I think that'll give you your best shot.
