I should have been more specific. Opt outs are available on almost every legitimate marketing email. Usually it's called "unsubscribe."

It doesn't not have anything to do with selling your information. I don't think there is anyway to prevent that, unless the company offers you the option NOT to sell your info. There's probably no more han 0.5% of the companies that sell info who will give you that option.

I don't think you'll see a flood of spam. You might get anywhere from 15-30 emails. You can then unsubscribe and it's over for those. And, if they sell it to companies that are involved in baseball sims and other baseball info, you might actually want what someone sends.

No legitimate company would sell anything more than demographic info (age, location) and email address. Your credit card info is safe.

This is just the way of the internet world we live in. Selling to Simnasium is a legitimate issue for argument when it comes to the future of DMB, but it's just the way things are.

I was getting 200 spam a month because I inadvertantly clicked on an email that had "free information" on it. My email went to pretty much every one but Al Qaeda. I had to get a new email account, but since that happened, I have gotten no spam other than notices from a cabaret where I previously purchased a ticket. I selected unsubscribe, and now I get NO SPAM. Life is good.
