NATIONAL LEAGUE PLAYED ON SUNDAY, JULY 15, 1951:
WASHINGTON @ CLEVELAND
Porterfield (3-4, 3.89) vs Garcia (6-6, 4.05)
The Cleveland Indians snapped their three game losing streak with a relatively easy
6-2 win over the Senators. Dale Mitchell, (.238 ), Ray Boone, (.252 ), and
Jim Hegan, (.249), all homered for the Tribe to back the complete game pitching
effort of Mike Garcia.
Garcia, (7 - 6), threw a whopping 149 pitches but, even so, struckout the last batter
he faced.
