Corrupt Transaction File

I somehow corrupted my 1984 Transaction file. When I play an as played game I get unable to load lineup because one or more players are missing. How do I rebuild the file?

I am playing around with the 1986 season disk that I have...and I have run into a few issues...

First off, there is no Organization currently formed. There are none listed under that tab. Do I have to create one on my own?

Secondly, when I was comparing to past season disks that I own...under the League Tabs and under Schedule for each league (A and B), there are only schedules "A" and "B" listed. There are no options to pick 'as-played' or...

More Vista/patch 9C Help

Hi, I am running DMB 9 and encountered the standard Vista issues. I first did the "run as administrator" fix and it managed to get DMB to work somewhat, but several invalid argument errors still occurred. I found the patch 9C fix instructions - I ran that but now when I run DMB nothing happens - the Allow/Cancel screen comes up and when I hit Allow the screen disappears and DMB never shows up. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Player not showing up on leader board

I ran into this problem quite a while ago, and there was a fix. Unfortunately, in my old age (read senility), I have forgotten it.

I am replaying the 1964 Yankees - Cards World Series. After 2 games, Lou Brock is one of the batting leaders, but he doesn't show up on the leader board at all. So I just bought a new laptop - an HP G60-519WM Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium on it...and I successfully loaded the DMB program onto the computer. However, when I went to load a season disk, I got a prompt message that did not allow me to do so.

Then, when I had the DMB program opened, my screen got all weird and it looks all fuzzy, discolored, and not like it does on my other laptop.

I tried posting a screen image, but I cannot figure out how to do this. One of the...

So all of a sudden, when I am replaying the '94 season and go to click on the 'Save Box/Game Stats' box following a game, I get the following message:

Unable to write to the DMBTXN file

This had never happened until this evening when I have played the last two games of the replay. However, after that prompt comes up, it says that the stats and box score have been saved successfully - which they are.

DMB playoff injuries

Would it be possible to create a new postseason setting for injuries? It seems like a lot of precautionary stuff that happens in the regular season would be shaken off in a playoff game. We had injuries turned on for our recent postseason and suffered 16 injuries in 42 games, which seems like a lot for the three-round postseason. We reset injuries after every game, so they're just for the duration of the game, but we keep them as kind of a tip of the hat to randomness and quirkiness. But...

Injuries when using 'real-life transactions'

Just a quick question I am sure some of you can answer - does DMB provide a reason or injury report when a player gets placed on the disabled list when replaying a season using the 'real-life transactions?'

I am asking because as the Expos, John Wetteland just went on the disabled list...and I want to know the details as to why, etc...just for the sake of knowing, really.

Net Play with Actiontec PK5000 Router?

I recently changed internet providers and now have a new router: Actiontec PK5000. Ive scoured the net and the DMB forum with no luck as the port forwarding site does not list my router. After all the research now Im not sure if the problem is that I dont have a static IP or that I need to open a port or both. I have attempted to fix both these issues without a positive...

Attempting to use 'real-life lineups'

When replaying the 1994 season, I am attempting to use 'real-life lineups' but I continue to get this message for a number of teams:

"Unable to load real-life lineup for 1994 ______. One or more lineup positions are empty."

However, when I go look at the team's manager profile, the lineups are filled and things seem to be just fine.

Trilogy and Windows 7

Thanks to David I eliminated the Invalid Argument error message on my new Windows 7 laptop by installing the version C patch that I thought was in place but wasn't. New problem: I've only played a few games but have noticed that results I know occurred (at-bats against various pitchers) have not registered in the batter-pitcher matchups of the Score area of Trilogy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, jim255

Replaying 1994...

Just a quick question:

I am replaying 1994, which everyone knows was shortened due to a strike. I was playing around with some things tonight and saw that it listed only '117' games for the teams...and when I went to the schedule, it did not list games beyond August 11th, 1994.

However, I want to replay the entire season as if there was never a strike. How can I do this?

Transferring Old seasons from old PC

Hi all,

I have a question. My PC crashed and I had to get a new computer. I had previous seasons that I never got to create an "export database file" for. The data on my old PC was recovered. I re-installed DMB 9c on my new computer. However, I can't figure out how to get my previous seasons that was recovered from my old PC to actually show up in DMB. Any ideas?

problem with netplay guest

I have worked through many netplay problems, all of them on the hosts side. Until last night I had never seen an issue with the guest. A friend of mine using a DSL modem and a vonage router is able to connect to me and we can play the game if he is the visitor and I am the home team (ie; I make the first move choosing pitch selection and defense). However if he is the home team I get the game screen with the red light waiting for him to make the pitch but he gets sent back to the default...

Invalid Argument error message - Windows 7

I just bought a Windows 7 laptop and have only encountered one problem when playing Diamond Mind: If I click on the Box Score tab during a game, an Invalid Argument error message pops up and won't go away no matter what I do. It also pops up occasionally when trying to pull up a box score from a completed game, but at least in that instance, I can close the error message box.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Netplay Game Initialization Failure

Here's the situation:

I pieced together how to get the connection going from different forum threads and we are able to establish a connection. I have been able to send chat messages to the connecting manager. We have loaded the same database, we have the same game version number 9C of the game, and we are both using an XP operating system. After getting the comnnection established, I start up the scheduled game. The game displays the manager controls window and then after...

Similar to a problem discussed in this thread, suddenly I'm getting the infamous "Unable to find DMB files at location:" error when starting up DMB.

It appears that DMB is now looking in a wrong location for my DMB databases, because, when I select "Add reference to existing database ...", I get this:

They just popped up one day during some kind of transfer or DB install. Not sure where they came from; is there a way of getting rid of them? They don't appear anywhere else that I can see.

Netplay Question

Do both netplay managers have to have a gaming port open on their respective router's firewall? Or does only the host need to have the port open? And if both players need it open, must it be the same port number on both routers?

Playing our SSL playoffs last weekend, we were not able to get the netplay to work and finally had to meet face to face to play them. I have more playoffs this weekend and would really like to be able to use the netplay feature as there is about 800+...

Can't delete bad schedule

I made the mistake of creating an Organization schedule (which has no teams), then realized my mistake and generated a valid league schedule. I have only one league in the organization with no divisions, 10 teams, and 162 games. I apparently attempted to start the season using the erroneous organization schedule and got an error message telling me there were not enough teams. Now I am trying to delete that schedule and use the league schedule. But I get a message saying the organization one...
